Rage Rage

Verse 1
I dreamed of greater things, but time is running out
Every day I return to the stone, face another bout
They tell me to be grateful for all that I’ve got,

But there resides unease for all the things I’m not

Chorus

Rage, rage against the night. Against the dying of the light
This very breath could be the last in an instant from being cast

No second chance, nor reprieve or Heavenly multitude united to grieve

What for us is awareness so short, cruel creation returns to naught

Verse 2

I strived for bigger things that left me feeling cold

Searched in vain for a god on high, but never found the fold

Converts say it’s a matter of faith; the divine is in our midst

But on these knees in earnest prayer, silence persists

Chorus 2

Rage, rage against the night against the dying of the light

The stage is ours  and the play so short til the sound of the reapers mort

No second chance, nor reprieve for we fall as though autumn leaves

Unto rest and as motion cease in unwelcome enforced release

Verse 3

I hoped for more than this, in body mind and soul

A cosmic meaning to the self, on a path to being whole

In a fantasy alter ego, I tread a celestial plain

The monsters from the Id, these delusions drown again

Chorus 3

Rage, rage against the night against the dying of the light

All we were and all we knew evaporates like the morning dew

No second chance nor reprieve  or Heavenly multitude united to grieve

So unwinds this mortal coil as infinity frees us from our toil

Final Chorus Part

Rage, rage against the night
Against the dying of the light
This very breath could be the last
